Genzyme in Asia

Genzyme Asia consists of the countries located in central and southern Asia. This extensive territory includes South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and The Philippines. Currently, Genzyme offices are located in Seoul, South Korea, Taipei, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, China. Efforts are underway to expand Genzyme's presence in this region into areas such as the Indian sub-continent, the Chinese mainland, and additional countries in South East Asia.

Genzyme Asia primarily markets Cerezyme^®, for the treatment of Gaucher disease, and Thyrogen^®, for thyroid hormone testing in thyroid cancer patients. Both of these products are designated as orphan drugs in the Asian markets of Korea and Taiwan. Cerezyme^® is also registered and available in Hong Kong. We are working diligently to bring cutting edge therapies such as Fabrazyme^®, for the treatment of Fabry’s disease, and Aldurazyme^®, for the treatment of MPS to patients in Asia. Fabrazyme^® and Aldurazyme^® have both recently received FDA approval for sales in the United Sates. Future pipeline products under investigation include Myozyme^TM for Pompe disease, and enzyme replacement therapy for Niemann-Pick type B disease.
